Current Dynamo Moscow forward Njie Clinton Mua has said French Ligue 1 championship side Olympique Lyonnais remains one of the most important Club in his journey to greatness in the football industry.
The 26-year-old Cameroon International made the comment to the local and international sports press this Wednesday, December 23 in Buea as he talked about the launch of the maiden edition of the Njie Clinton December 2020 Football Festival in Buea.
The 2017 AFCON winner in his usual humility reminded the media of the role Lyon played in him becoming the top professional footballer.
“All the Clubs I have played for have been very important but I have a special place in my heart for Olympique Lyonnais. This is the Club that offered me a first professional contract.” Njie revealed.
The native of Buea, Southwest Region of the republic of Cameroon began his career at the Brasserie Football Academy before moving to France in 2011 to join Lyon’s feeder team.
It is at the Gerland Stadium that he developed into a full professional footballer joining the first team in 2012.
He later represented the first team on 48 occasions scoring eight goals and assisting nine in a somewhat short stint in the first team before switching to London.
He later switched to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur where he spent a season before leaving to Marseille.
At Marseille he played the final of the 2018 UEFA Europa League and later switched to Dynamo Moscow in the build up to the 2018-2019 season.
He is having the time of his life in Moscow but his days in Lyon remain forever memorable per his own commentaries in his recent outing in Buea.
The Njie Clinton December 2020 Football Festival in Buea has begun this Wednesday. His former Clubs Tottenham, Marseille, Lyon and his current Club Dynamo Moscow are all represented.
The event is charity-driven and aimed at giving back to youths in Buea.
