The second leg tie between Nigeria Super Eagles and Leon Stars of Sierra Leon at Siaka Stevens Stadium ended in a barren draw on Tuesday.
After a disappointing 4-4 result in the first leg in Benin, expectations were high for the team to bounce back and win to make up for the outing.
But in a not too inspiring performance by the Super Eagles, the team created not many chances to score.
The first half was pretty much that of the Leon Stars as they looked more dangerous to harm the Eagles.
Oghenekaro Etebo left in thirty-eight minutes for Shehu Abdullahi after a slight knock.
The Leon Stars came close to scoring in the 42 second minutes, but Okoye was there to rescue the team.
Super Eagles looked better going forward in the second half with Chukwueze and Iheanacho in the thick of things.
In the 61st minutes, the referee ruled offside before Iheanacho headed the ball at the back of the net.
Aribo and Iheanacho again made attempts but none threatened the keeper for a goal.
Coach Rohr made a double substitution for Nigeria as Dennis and Ajayi replaced Aribo and Iheanacho which yielded no result.
The result postpones qualification of Nigeria till March next year.
