The Nigeria Sports Minister, Mr. Dare Sunday has intervened in the rift between the Nigeria Football Federation and the Super Falcons coach, Thomas Dennerby.
The minister made this known in his twitter handle this evening, giving the impression that the issue will be settled.
”I have personally stepped into the matter of Thomas Dennerby, the Coach of Super Falcons. I received a brief this morning and will proceed to seek a quick resolution to ensure he continues to Coach Nigeria’s female team.” He said earlier today.
”An hour ago I had a constructive conversation on the telephone with Super Falcons Coach Dennerby in Sweden. I have also spoken with the NFF leadership. We are working to resolve the issues in the interest of football development.” Dare said a while ago.
Reports however have it that Thomas Dennerby will speak to his lawyers to sort out his future with the Nigeria Football Federation over his Super Falcons coaching job.
The team resumed training today with Falconets technical crew led by Chris Danjuma in charge.
According to Goal.com, a top NFF source said the gaffer is threatening to quit due to his frustration and lack of support.
“It is a serious matter because he [Thomas Dennerby] has been complaining about a lack of support which was not really from the NFF leadership but the secretariat,” the source informed Goal.
There are reports, Chris Danjuma may replace the Swedish coach if Dennerby steps down.
Dennerby, who returned to his native country of Sweden two weeks ago, is not back in Nigeria to lead the team against the Elephants with two weeks to go to the first leg tie in Abidjan.
