After just one season with only two clubs in continental competitions, Nigeria will, in the next continental contest, parade four clubs, with both the CAF Champions League (CL) and the CAF Confed- eration Cup (CC) having two clubs each from the country
The journey of restoring the number of country’s representatives to four teams started with Enyimba’s impressive run at the CAF Confederations Cup last season.
Lobi Stars and Rangers International consolidated on this as they gave a good account of themselves by getting to the group stages of theCAFCL and CAFCC respectively.
It will be recalled that Nigeria lost it coefficient rating as a result of poor strings of performances by club representatives like Plateau United and MFM when they represented the country in the biggest tournament of African club football. Only two clubs in Nigeria Professional Football League represented Nigeria’s team in the continent this season.
The news comes as a great opportunity for Nigeria to have quality and quantity representation in the next CAF club football tournaments.
