Canon of Yaoundé have ended a poor season for racing football club of Bafoussam beating an already battered team by 2 goals to 1.
Canon are marching up nord for the playoffs with an eye fixed towards winning the title after a very long period of time in the sidelines.
They have made a real statement of intent towards the title and used their last game against racing to send a message to their semi final opponent.
First half highlights
Ngong Neville went pass the whole racing backline from 30 yards out to score the opener of the game and put the Kpakums ahead in that game.
Racing pressed forward for a goal of their own but Pecko for the tout puissant de l’ouest could only find the Cross bar
Canon few minutes later could have gone 2 up but Yvan Mballa could not direct a cut back from Edgar Minga pass the racing keeper
Racing were not going down without a fight as Antoine Ngeuleu played a Sublime ball in for Jimmy Arnaud but his shot was blocked by an onrushing Canon Defender in the 6 yard box as keeper Ngong wasn’t troubled by that.
Antoine Ngeuleu pounced on a free kick Infront of goal but for the second time in the game hit the cross bar for the team from the west region.
Right back Stéphane Nkoue set up a perfect Cross for Abba Maigari who did justice to the ball in by heading bit pass Ndjeng in goal who’s outstretched body couldn’t keep him out from going to the back of his net for the second time in the 33rd minute of play.
Racing rounded up the first half on a high with some great chances created but were unable to pull one back before the first 45 minutes ended as Marie Diange sent both teams down the tunnel.
Second Half highlights
Le tout puissant de l’ouest emerged the team who looked like changing their destiny but a few failed attempts saw canon mounting one of their own with a shot from Abba Maigari brilliantly stopped by Ndjeng early on in the second half.
Racing came knocking once more but Ulrich Nzong on his first start for Canon this season in the elite 1 was there to stop a cross in from the right flank which was parried out for a corner.
Neville Ngong and Ebelle coming off the bench both had opportunities to put the game to Beth but their shots from out the the box went just wide off the goal post.
Three minutes to the end of the match, 4 pulled one back for the home team but it was a little too late as canon carried the day.
