Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and Gent sweeper Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui played a telling role in his side’s 2-1 win at home to Standard Liege of Fai Collins Ngoran this Sunday in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
Both Cameroon Internationals and winners of the 2017 AFCON Fai and Ngadeu started the game.
The match-day 16 encounter wasn’t short of highlights as both sides set out in search of a win and displayed classic attacking football.
The visitors Standard Liege took just two minutes to score the opener through Belgian defender Noë Dussenne.
25-year-old Angolan forward Núrio Domingos Matias Fortuna benefitted from a Michael Ngadeu assist in the 27th minute of the game to equalize for Gent.
The game stayed on the 1-1 score till the break.
Both sides failed to create a real chance in the opening minutes of the second segment.
It took until the 85th minute for Belgian striker Roman Yaremchuk to win it for host Gent with a classic strike.
The game ended on a 2-1 score in favor of Gent who picked up their sixth win of the season.
Both Cameroonian played the entire game but Ngadeu left the happier.
Gent with 19 points accumulated this season are 12th on the log after 16 games in the 18 Clubs championship.
Gent face Waasland Beveren of Georges Mandjeck and Serge Leuko in their next League game on Wednesday while Standard Liege travel to Kortrijk.
