New Stars got their first taste of 3 points in top flight championship in Limbe on Sunday after the beat visitors PWD by 2-1 .It was the first win since July 24, 2018 against A.S of Fortuna.

The big news of the encounter came from the Dugouts; Coach Gerard Mbimi, and Tougem Jean-Baptist had to learn about the scores from different places; Coach Mbimi had health issues, while coach Jean Baptist of PWD was attending a seminar.

New Stars started the game on the front foot, with Junior Kemajou posing a constant threat upfront, and Nelson Morkeu making a nuisance of himself with those constant good passes and layoffs.

Goal keeper Etienne Tonye made his debut for the ‘Abakwa boy’s’. The goal keeper kept PWD into the game with all sorts of saves _ from the point blank saves, to unorthodox saves, and excellent reflexes.

Chances were raining around the 35th minute of the game, with Nelson Morkeu deciding to go with power instead of placement, from close quarters and eventually ballooned the ball over the goal post.
Medjo Aristide then surprised everyone in the stadium with a 25 yard strike that rattled the crossbar. That was the end of the first 45 minutes.

FIFA referee; Mbelle Mbelle blasted his whistle for the second half, 5 minutes in,Etienne Tonye was beaten 5 by Junior Kemajou who hustled the the defense to committing an absolute blunder.

The game was now delicately poised, as PWD had to attack from all fronts to avoid back-to-back defeats in the town of ‘Friendship’. Former Coton Sport player,Fai Gilead took a shot from an impossible angle, and the helpless goal keeper Fotso Toche of New Stars could only palm the ball to the head of on rushing Konyuy Jude who thank the keeper by netting his third goal of the season, at this level the New Stars faithful already were already thinking; this cannot be happening again.

At the 77th minute New Stars got a reward for their constant pressure, as yet again a defensive mixed up let Camille Koukeyemina into the box, the Congolese faked his shot twice before unleashing a shot that was deflected through bodies, and Frank Daniel Bille was there to pass the ball to an empty net, and that was that.

Captain Lane Lakem talking to kick442 reporters, said; “We are happy to get our first win, though it came with a lot of hard work…..”. ” We are happy because our coach would also be delighted once he hears of our performance today”.

“While his opposing Mate Serge Manga, Substitute forward for PWD blamed the defeat on inexperience and vow the team will put up a fight for 3 points against Dragon Next weekend.
