New of Stars of Douala have left Cameroon as planned on Friday afternoon for Nairobi-Kenya ahead of their first leg CAF Confederation cup game against Gor Mahia of Kenya.
Earlier on Friday, the club’s owner and CEO, Faustin Domkeu had told kick442.com that club’s trip to Kenya may be affected negatively should Football administrators in the country fail to give their expected financial support.
Reacting from the Douala International airport at 3:30PM Local Time,left back Lane Lakem confirmed all is going as planned and they were already carrying out routine travel checks ahead their flight at 4:00.PM.
“We are very focused on the task ahead and the things we can influence,our training session this morning was successful and all is set for us to give our best.There is zero distraction,we are not in charge of Administrative issues,we speak on the pitch” Lane added.
President Faustin Domkeu; “Our team is very focused, we will travel as planned,we expect government to react,the support means a lot to us but this young boys are from Cameroon,they have always shown character”
New Stars will be without Midfielder, Aristide Medjo when they face Gor Mahia in Kenya.The club’s deputy captain was sent off in the club’s last confederation cup game against Ahly Tripoli while Gor Mahia have had two key players, captain,Haron Shakava and Joash Onyango suspended by CAF following an incident in their last champions league game against Lobi Stars.
New Stars of Douala will train in Kenya on Saturday before their Sunday soccer Showdown against Gor Mahia.
