The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Switzerland has instructed the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) to reinstate New Stars of Douala in the Cameroon top-flight Championship with immediate effect.
The ruling was sent to FECAFOOT this Tuesday, September 15, the Swiss Court bringing an end to the suspense in the battle between both sides.
According international court of arbitration for sports, it was illegal to New Stars FC of Douala to be relegated in the end of the 2018-2019 season.
Therefore president Faustin Domkeu’s
New Stars of Douala team will be in the top-flight Championship any time it resumes in future.
As it stands the Cameroon Elite One championship has 20 participants without UMS of Loum who are also in a legal battle.
In addition to the above, FECAFOOT will have to pay 3.500000 FCFA to New Stars of president Faustin Domkeu.
New Stars missed the entire 2019-2020 season because of this legal battle.
24 hours earlier, the same Court of arbitration for Sports released a favorable decision for the Cameroon Professional football league, reinstating the body after over a year in the cold.
New Stars of Douala considered as one of the most vibrant Clubs in Elite One having won the Cup of Cameroon in 2017 and participated in the CAF Champions League and Confederation in not less than three occasions.
