The lead trainer of the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon Martin Ndtoungou Mpile has put an end to speculations about the absence of Jacques Zoua Daogari in his side’s 1-1 draw against the Eagles of Mali this Wednesday at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.
Zoua’s class and experience was missing as his Cameroon scored through Solomon Charles Bidjeme Banga but sacrificed the lead to pick up their fourth point of the competition.
The absence of Zoua who attended the Pre-match conference 24 hours earlier led to multiple contradicting reports.
Speaking to the media post-match put an end to the rumors in few words.
“Zoua has a muscle problem and the medical staff are looking after him, we hope he will be available in our next game.”
Cameroon leading Group A with four points face third-seeded Burkina Faso in the third group game on Sunday while second-seeded Mali face already-eliminated Zimbabwe.
Zoua is one of the skippers of the Cameroon team and his return could be telling for the host.
