A win at home has always been very different for the social club but tradition was broken on match day 26.
A late strike from through Ndeh Collins handed a precious match day 26 win to PWD in Bamenda.
From the first whistle from the referee, coach Pagou’s boys began showing their determination to grab all three points against Dragon Yaounde.
They dominated the first 20 minutes of the game unfortunately without an end product.
The absence of Ade Mineolf at the midfield of PWD gave Henri Belle, Tazon Roche other attackers of Dragon to find their way often into the 18m box of PWD.
With another goalkeeper between the sticks for PWD (Damlabeu Cedric) captain Burinyuy Derick ensured that the forward line of Dragon was frequently stopped to prevent a goal.
The referee sounded his whistle ordering the close of the first half with both clubs at zero all. Free kicks and passes made by Nchindo as well as pressure and shots from Awudu Lukong, Leon Boyomo, Ndifon Kenneth couldn’t lead the boys to the back of the net.
The Abakwa Boys mounted more pressure to get a goal and consequently a victory but their struggling counterpart exercised some skills to stop them.
15mins into the second half of play a beautiful free kick was sent by Ndifon Kenneth into the 18m box of Dragon but the waiting hands of goalkeeper Yindui Amido kept it out.
A number of substitutions were made by coaches of both teams to hunt for goals and boost up the morals of others but could be termed “ fail attempt “.
Nchindo’s set piece deliveries constantly targeted Leon Boyomo but the Pagou’s were unable to get the opener.
At the 90 minute of play, it was another golden opportunity considering the failed attempts. A cross that headed to the goal was intercepted, but was triumphantly directed to the back of the net by Nde Collins which gave PWD a one nil lead.
All attempts to get an equalizer for Dragon couldn’t yield fruits.
