Ajara Nchout on the microphone of kick442.com has admitted that Assisat Oshoala deserved the 2020 CAF Women’s player of the year award.
Having gone neck-to-neck in a fierce contest with Oshoala, the two seemed to cancel each other out but the Barcelona feminine forward Oshoala, got the nod.
Recounting Tuesday’s January 7 event, Ajara told kick442.com — ‘ the trophy for the best CAF footballer is delivered by a group of experts made up of football legends, Journalists and many other people selected by CAF. If Oshoala won the tropy, it means Assisat Oshoala deserved the CAF women’s player of the year.
‘Congratulations to her once more. I will continue to work hard so that one day I win this trophy to make my brothers and sisters all over the world proud,’ Ajara aired.
The former didn’t however deny the fact that she was gutted after the loss — like every other athlete should be and needed consolation.
‘The same evening of the awards, I had already begun planning for the new season, and a way of winning the individual award.
‘I was with my assistants, agents, and was constantly online with my communication officers as they all comforted and consoled me. I was given words of encouragement by FECAFOOT president, coach Alain Djeumfa, and our legend Samuel Eto’o who were with me in Egypt. Let my brothers and sisters not worry, the best is yet to come.’
Nchout Ajara was hoping to take home the personal accolade only one Cameroonian (Gaelle Enganamouit) has won from its inception.
However, the forward has lifted her head up high, and promised a better season.
