Guinea star man ,Naby Keita has been ruled out from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt due to a groin injury sustained during Wednesdays UEFA champions League match against Spanish giant FC Barcelona.
The 24 year old Liverpool centre midfielder was forced out of the Nou Camp during the opening 25 minutes of the first half.
Keita was assessed by Liverpool’s medical staff and was confirmed he would be out for two months with an adductor injury.
Anfield boss Jürgen Klopp decribed Keita’s Injury as unlucky during a press conference.
Naby Keita joined Liverpool in August in the summer and since then has been a centre midfielder par excellence for the English club.
The former Red Bull Leipzig sensational was due to feature in Guinea senior national team in Egypt during Africa’s most celebrated biennial football event.
The Syli National of Guinea are paired against Africa heavy weight Nigeria , debutants Madagascar and Burundi in Group B and Keita’s absence could be a huge blow to Guinea in the quest for continental glory.
Their best finish was in 1976 when they finished second but reached the quater final in 2004,2006,2008, and 2015.
Naby Keita made his debut for Guinea in 2013 and has scored 5 times.
