PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda has returned to winning ways in the MTN elite 1 championship.
The Abakwa Boys recorded a 2#1 victory against New Stars of Douala in Match Day 5 of the championship played at the Bamendzi stadium in Bafoussam.
The Abakwa Boys started the match on the better side as Chem Herbert, Tchoua Leger, and Aboubakar Mohammed made things difficult for the defenders of New Stars of Douala.
The early pressure from PWD Bamenda paid off in the 9th minute of play when Tchoua Leger took advantage of a defensive error from Fred Nyamot Nkot and found Aboubakar Mohammed at the edge of the 18yards area. The resulting shot from Aboubakar Mohammed beat goalkeeper Gilles Emmanuel Mba.
PWD Bamenda mounted much pressure but efforts from Chem Herbert, Zanga Ulrich, and Vincent Paul Ngondi failed to trouble New Stars.
Upon resumption of the second half, coach David Pagou brought in Brilliant Awahmukala and Bajege Bajege Geovani in place of Malachi Nfor Che and Aboubakar Mohammed.
Three minutes into the second half, Tchoua Leger took control of the ball and fired it past goalkeeper Gilles Emmanuel Mba as PWD Bamenda took a two goals lead.
In the 58th minute of the match, Edouard Sombang of PWD from a corner kick failed to clear his zone and the onrushing Jean Jacques Junior with his shot reduced the scores for New Stars.
The scores will remain the same till the blast of the final whistle.
The victory takes PWD Bamenda to 9 points while New Stars of Douala remains rock bottom with 2 points.
