AS Fortuna of Yaounde was in a brilliant form as they defeated Pool A leaders Astres of Douala on Tuesday 14, at the Olembe Annex One Stadium by three goals to nil, so as to put an end to their 18 games with out defeat.
The boys of President Roger Noah succeeded in taking an edge on the Brazilians of Bepanda, thanks to the prowess of the former PWD goal poacher Bin Adolf Nkembe Enow author of a brace. The latter has become one of the lead strikers in the MTN Elite Championship with 13 goals, ahead of Apam Joseph of Apejes on 12,Wassou Goue Patient and Marou Souaibou of Cotonsport with 11 goals.
AS Fortuna have finished the season out of the top two of the Championship and will be absent from the playoffs.
Despite their break in win by a 3-0 defeat from AS Fortuna, captain Rodrigue Tchatchoua and mates have earned an 18 games unbeaten record to consolidate their leadership in Pool A with 47 points.
The boys of coach Anicet Mbarga have won 14 games, 4 draws, 2 defeat, scored 29 goals and are 17 points away from their immediate rivals Canon Sportive of Yaounde on 38 points.
Astres will take on Cotonsport of Garoua in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Eding will lock horns against Canon Sportive of Yaounde before June 30 to determine who will represent the country in the CAF Champions League.
