Fauve Azur has escape from relegation after playing a 1-1 draw against Union Sportive of Douala, in the match day twenty-four of the ongoing championship, on Thursday, June 23, at the Omnisport Annex One Stadium.

Union’s goal was scored in the early minutes of the game thanks to Ngoh Blaise. Meanwhile, Fauve Azur’s late goal came from Saidou Ibrahim.

Highlights

The first goal opportunity for the Nassara kamakai of Douala came through Fernand Eloundou who dribbled Fauve’s defender Cedric Djomo for an opener, but his shot was well grabbed by goalkeeper Lionel Tresor of Fauve Azur.

Junior Kaaba and Joel Boheu in a one-to-one ball combination, attempted to surprise goalkeeper Samuel Elimbi of Union. Unfortunately, the ball was promptly deviated by Abel Makani for a corner kick.

15 minutes afterwards, Blaise Eloundou in his fast habitual play style on the wings, placed another hot strike in a close distance away from the cage of Lionel Djomo. Thanks to the brilliant defensive play from Djibrile Armand, Union benefited from a throw in.

20 minutes later , Blaise Ngoh benefited from Lionel Djomo’s poor outing, to open score for Union of Douala.

Fauve Azur mounted pressure on Union through the beautiful ball combinations between Djibrile Armand and Cyrille Atchom. But Fernand Eloundou was always present to put a stop to the last action.

Fauve had the chance to level scores at the 60th and 70th minutes respectively through Borris Kengne and Ibrahim Mouchili. But, Mouchili’s closed shot narrowly passby the cage of goalkeeper Samuel Elimbi.

Coach Theodore Ngatchou substituted Borris Kengne for Ali Hassan. A tactical decision that impacted his side’s play style at the midfield.

At the 80th minutes then came Fauve Azure’s salvatory equalizer by Ibrahim Saidou, through a powerful shot at the angle ninety of Samuel Elimbi’s cage.

Next to the relegation zone, captain Ibrahim Mouchili and mates were desperately in need of a single point, so as to be maintained in the Elite One championship. They have now moved to the nineth spot of pool A with 28 points.

Meanwhile on the bottom of the 13 pool A classification table are Racing, Panthere and Tonnerre destined to play for the Elite Two next season.
