Colombe Sportive of Sangmelima played an all tight 1-1 draw against Union Sportive of Douala at the Ngoa Ekelle Stadium on Saturday.Colombe found herself in a rumbling situation being unable to dominate Union coupled with numerous goal chances. It was an encounter that saw both sides failing to concretize a litany of goal scoring opportunities, especially from the South region Elite One plenipotentiary.
Union Sportive had dominated the game and was rewarded with a seven minutes goal from a Ngoh Tabib Blaise header. The response to that action was the twenty-eighth goal strike from Franklin Banmassa to bring both sides on a parity score.
Colombe’s game was marked by a litany of goal scoring chances orchestrated by the boys of Coach Guy Djiepnang . Union sportive via Ngoh Tabib in a five metres header succeeded in putting the ball at the back net of Colombe’s keeper Nfor Finia for a lead at the Seventh minutes.
Colombe kept mounting pressure on Union at the up front for the next fifteenth minutes of the game.But Union’s keeper calm and confident made a number of saves. It was until the twenty-eighth minutes when Franklin Banmassa promptly exploited the defensive misunderstanding among the Nasara kamakai defenders to stun a shot for an equaliser. Thereby, urging Union to go on a rippling situation with two defeats.
Both teams continue battling hard at the upfront and at the midfield. Union and her cream of young talents appeared to be more convincing and performant throughout the first-half. Colombe in her fast and shot ball passes succeeded in penetrating into Union’s box but her forwards were less convincing in the last ball touches. Both sides were sent of the pitch for the first-half at the blast of the central referee’s whistle.
Play resume for both sides, with Colombe demonstrating a high anxiety to triumph over Union at the 43rd minutes with a double dribble and a struck from Jerome Ngom Mbekeli. But, the Union defensive body remain diligent in leaving no ball pass by to reach goalkeeper Jordan Etoundi.
Colombe was at the verge of taking the lead at the 53rd minutes, when Bertrand Mani failed to beat goalkeeper Jordan Etoundi in a face to face battle. Franklin Banmassa in his quest for a second realization, crossed two good balls that fell on no one to concretize the impeccable action.
Miskey Gueme’s fast ball touches on the flanks turn out to be of great chances for Colombe, but Union defender Yannick Nsamba’s prompt intervention on several occasions help safe his side from more dangers. The game had came to an end with the Colombe players leaving the pitch in disillusionment and frustration after being unable to make use of the numerous goal scoring opportunities.
