Stade Renard forward Brice Sindjo Zoe scored his 3rd and 4th goals for of the 2022-2022 season to spark a 2-0 win over Colombe of Dja on Wednesday in match-day four of the Elite One championship at the Omnisport Annex Stadium.
The result keeps Renard within three points of the top in the MTN Elite One championship, as leaders Canon Yaounde also won their game against TKC.
Brice took his league goal tally to four this season, two goals less than current top scorer Pierre Boyomo of Fauve Azur, and moved above Tegemo Emmanuel of YOSA with three goals.
Both sides struggled to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes though coming close on a number of occasions.
Brice finally opened the scoring with a long-range blast in the 49th minute, then doubled Renard’s lead after 69 minutes by forcing the ball over the line following up a save from Nfor on goal for Colombe.
Coach Guy Djiepnang’s men struggled to find their way back into the game but it wasn’t to be as Stade Renard dominated the final 20 minutes of regulation time.
The game ended on a 2-0 score, thereby bringing Renard of coach Gabriel Zabo back to winning ways.
Sindjo’s brace takes the former Canon Yaounde forward to the top of the scorers chart with four goals.
Stade Renard are ranked second in pool A with nine points from three wins in four games. They are three points away from Canon and tied with third place YOSA after three games.
