Djebayi Makon’s late 82nd minutes successful penalty goal completes Astres of Douala’s three nil win over Stade Renard of Melong, on Friday in the second game of the day 12 clash of this season’s MTN Elite 1 championship. The game that took place at the Omnisport Annex One Stadium in Yaounde saw Astres score through Mbang Symplice, Arno Ndzana and Makon.
The game began with a high pressing from Astres, through Makon who attempted opening scores at the second minutes of play in a 10 metres shot, that fell into the hands of Renard’s keeper Armand Engoue. Mbella Joe’s 15 metres free kick went of the goal of Astres’ keeper Jourdain Mbaynaissem.
But Simplice Mbang opened scores for Astres at the 13 minutes through an assist from Eric Api.
Renard benefited from a second free kick but Tamo Giresse’s long range kick was intercepted by the calm and confident Astres Keeper at the 15 minutes. Mbith Bienvenue in a third free kick placed the ball on left part of Astres’ nets, but Mbaynaissem was eqaul to it. Astre of coach Anicet Mbarga played with much physical energy and dominated ball possession in the next 15 minutes.
Axel Ndzana of Astre in a thunderstorm free kick narrowly placed the ball on the left side of Engoue’s goal, unfortunately the ball went wide for goal kick.
Eric Api’s numerous diagonal cross balls created difficulties for Thierry Alokou, Dayang and Serge Wohting of Stade Renard all along.
In the other end, Eloundou, Ndzana and Tchinda formed an impermeable defensive block for Astres in stopping a number of goal scoring chances for Stade Renard as the first half came to an end.
Astres came back for the second segment looking more willing; Axel Ndzana beat Engoue of Stade Renard with a header for a second goal at the 50th minutes. Stade Renard won a penalty but failed to score as the penalty was poorly taken by Eyike.
Franck Epoh at the 60 minutes benefited from a good pass, that saw him miss an open goal following goalkeeper Mbaynaissem’s poor outing to grab the ball. However, coach Mbarga changed his game strategy by widening play on the wings with the entry of substitute Yohan Nyami.
Tchatchoua and Lonla totally swallowed Stade Renard’s midfield. But Mbella kept on giving hopes of an upcoming goal via his distant shots, but his nice balls were all furtile.
Astres through the brilliance of Ndzana, Api and Nyami circulated the ball well, winning the acclamation of the 500 supporters, who turn out to watch the thrilling game. Astres benefited from a penalty kick to scored her third goal at the 82nd minutes through the prowess of Makon, following an 80th minutes fault on Aboule.
Astres move up to 28 points, so as to maintain her supremacy on the league. Meanwhile, Ndzana Axel has increased his goal count to 5.
