With the decor set for tomorrow’s ascension of the Mount Cameroon race of hope, a colorful ceremony to launch activities of its 27th edition were precided at the molyko Omnisport (departure point) in Buea.
The Mayor of the city took to the rostrum to welcome athletes who converged at the venue to complete last minutes formality before dance groups, athletic clubs and bands took turns to showcase the cultural endowment of the people of Gbea (host city).
Motombi Mbome (Athletics Federation President) in his address to the participants encouraged the spirit of FairPlay and friendship which over the years have characterized the success story recorded.
“We believe in your abilities to conquer the highest peak in West Africa, for these are the kind of acts that separates the brave from regular men.”
“We have made available every necessary assistance as you climb up and down the mountain and we believe tomorrow will produce a worthy Champion”
Present at the ceremony were aced champions like (5 times) Sarah Liengu Etonge, Catherine Nkwang in the female category, Esuka Reginald, and many others.
Close the 100 journalists present at the opening ceremony did receive accreditation badges for tomorrow’s event which kicks off at exactly 7:00 am CAT.
