When the defending Champions of the African Nations Championship (CHAN), Atlas Lions of Morocco face Intermediate Lions of Cameroon in the second semi-final of the 2020 edition, they will try to become the first nation that will make it to the consecutive final of the tournament.
In the history of the five editions of the tournament, no country has ever made it to the final on consecutive occasions.
Morocco got to the final for the time in 2018 as host beating Nigeria 4-0 to win their first CHAN trophy.
DR Congo and Ghana are the two countries that have made it to the final of the tournament twice.
DR Congo got to the final of the 2009 and 2016 editions and won both finals.
Ghana on the other hand got to the finals of the 2009 and 2014 editions losing both finals to DR Congo and Libya respectively.
Both DR Congo and Ghana achieved their feat of getting to the finals twice but not consecutively
If Morocco defeats Cameroon on Wednesday, they will become the first country to make it to the finals back to back.
Whether they will be able to achieve that feat, time will tell.
