Feared to carry a knock that could compromise his chances for a place in Egypt 2019 after he was replaced by Astra Giurgui’s Coach Constantin Enache in their 3-0 away loss to FC Viitorul Constanta, 27 years old Cameroon forward Jacques Zoua Daogari seems to be ok.
He was taken off at the 22nd minute of that game and made way for Nelut Rosu.
According to reports from the Romanian club’s infirmary, he just suffered a little pain but should be back to training with his teammates this Thursday morning.
Zoua has scored one goal in his last 20 games for his club and has not been able to get a goal for Cameroon in his last 24 games.
News of his injury received some ironic reactions from football writers, pundits and observers in Cameroon.
“All what God does is good, be courageous Zoua”
“Some see a blessing from God in this injury…courage to him”
“Did I not tell you that this player will be the first on that list to be announced injured”
“Even God has started coming to our rescue”
Those are some of the reactions from writers, pundits and observers after news of his injury.
The striker himself is not happy about his goal drought for his country and attempts an explanation.
“It’s true that I have never scored in an official game with the national team. The coaches put in place a system of play in which I am given more of the role of a play maker (…). It will be a huge moment of joy and take away a huge weight on my shoulders when I score that first goal. Because with all evidence it shows that when you give your all with the national team and you don’t score, it’s not nice”, Zoua told Football New in France.
Whatever reactions they will have about the news that it was a mere scare and the striker is apt, remains to be seen.
It is more likely that he will be part of the team that will go into camp in Yaoundé from May 24 to June 3, 2019 and fly to Sousse in Tunisia for the final phase of their preparations from June 5th to June 19th ahead of the tournament in Egypt.
