Kumasi Asante Kotoko will continue to reap the fruits of their labour following the club’s first qualification to the group stage of a CAF club competition in 11 years.
Ghana’s ministry of sports have on Tuesday published a release sign by the boss of the ministry,Hon.Isaac Kwame Asiamah confirming the Porcupine Warriors will get $150 000 that is approximately 750,750GH as reward for taking Ghana’s name this far into the 2018 competition.
The above sum adds to $275 000 Asante Kotoko got from CAF making a total sum of $425,000 approximately 2,127,125.00GH for the club to prepare for at least their 6 games in the group stage of the CAF confederation cup.
In addition to the above, sources in Ghana have told kick442.com that the minister will also finance some renovation works at the level of the clubs home,the Baba Yara Stadium especially on aspects like lighting so as to ensure the Warriors,their fans and why not Ghana enjoy the competition when the proper phase of it begins Early next month.
Kotoko will face Zambia duo Zesco,Nkana and Sudanese powerhouse Al Hilal on home and away basis in the competition.
On Sunday defender,Agyameng Badu told reporters that, this generation of footballers want to write their names in the History books of the club. Minister Kwame’s gesture is certainly a huge motivation for the boys of coach Charles Akonnor ahead of their first game away to Al Hilal in Sudan.
