In a diversified world where individuals and countries no longer depend on a solitary source for national income and well being, female footballers are going to school and acquiring skills that will be worthwhile after their football career.
The likes of Adamawa Queens duo of Regina Omede and Sandra Johnosi are good examples of female footballers mixing education with their football career.
In an exclusive interview with FC Robo Queens attacker, Monday Gift, is of the view that education is an important part of female footballers career.
“Well, education is important to female footballers in a sense that football for ladies is a short time career, which we’ll have to fall back on our certificate to earn a living and not become liabilities to family, love ones and society.” She told kick442.com.
The former City of David (COD) Ladies player asserted that in spite of the fact that FC Robo Queens are in a tough group ahead of next season Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, she is optimistic of her side title prospects.
“Though it’s a tough group (Group B) but at the same time we (Fc Robo) are equal to the tasks. We are prepared, ready anything you can call it for the game to start. As for our first game against defending champions, Rivers Angels, there’s nothing like impossibility in football, anything can happen, so I will leave how the game will end till its been played.”
Monday Gift opined that the target next season for FC Robo Queens is to win a double and she is having her personal training indoor due to the lock down which was to eschew the spread of CoronaVirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
“Last season, we couldn’t make it to the Super 4. I felt bad, I can’t really say what happened, though. For next season, our target is to win the league and the Aiteo Cup and I am sure that we can do that. I do support the stay indoor and quarantine stuff. A dead or sick man doesn’t play football. Safety first. As a result of this, I do my personal training indoor.”
Gift concluded with how she kicks start her career and where she wants to be in the future.
“I started on the street and later joined a football academy named Melindion Football Academy, whereby I was the only female among them all. At first my parents didn’t support my football career, but later gave me their full support. In the future, I will like to see myself playing abroad, among the best players in the world, achieving alot of titles and living my dream life.”
Monday Gift, Coach Emmanuel Osahon Orobosa and FC Robo Queens hope to qualify for the Super 4 and possibly win the league title in a group that include defending champions, Rivers Angels, Ibom Angels, newcomers, Royal Queens, Osun Babes’, Heartland Queens, Delta Queens and Adamawa Queens.
