In the 100metres race of the Diamond League in Monaco, debutant, Divine Oduduru didn’t have the best of start as he came 8th position in the race.
The young athlete had announced he was turning pro a couple of months ago after his wonderful exploits at NCAA where he won in the 100 and 200 metres races respectively.
After missing out in two meets at and the Lausane Diamond league and Hungarian Grand Prix, Oduduru featured in his long waited debut but it was not the happiest of it.
He ran in 10.26 seconds behind United State of America duo, Justlin Gatlin and Lyles Noah and others to finish 8th in the race.
Justin Gatlin showed his experience, edging the men’s 100m ahead of his compatriot Noah Lyles, winning with a time of 9.91s. Lyles finished 2nd in 9.92s and Mike Rodgers 3rd in 10.01s.
Nigeria’s Divine Oduduru had announced his newest sponsors…Puma and seemed to be high spirit for the Monaco Diamond league.
The young Nigerian athlete will now look beyond the game, take it as a learning process and seek to get better in his next race.
