French Ligue 1 outfit Rennes are in the market for a central defender. They have set their sights on Valladolid’s Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu.
Rennes’ coach Julien Stephan is hoping to make the Breton outfit more competitive next season, and to achieve that there is a need to reinforce their defensive compartment this summer.
Going by reports from RMC Sports, Rennes have already started discussions with Valladolid for a possible move for their young Ghanaian defender.
Also on the wishlists Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, 21-year old Salisu impressed in his debut season with the Spanish LaLiga outfit.
His current contract with Valladolid runs until June 2022.
Valladolid are currently ranked 15th on the Spanish LaLiga table which has been suspended since March as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak.
Salisu made 28 appearances for Valladolid across all competitions, 27 of them in the Spanish LaLiga with a goal to his name.
According to Transfermarkt’s valuation of the Ghanaian defender, he is worth €11million, which makes him even more attractive, given the potential he has shown.
