Spanish LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid have disclosed their plans for 21-year-old Ghanaian center-back Mohammed Salisu, should they succeed to sign him from Valladolid.
The former Kumasi Barcelona Babies FC and African Talent defender joint Valladolid’s youth teams in 2017.
After making 39 league appearances with Valladolid’s B team in the 2018-2019 season, he was promoted to their first team this season and has been hugely impressive in his 28 LaLiga appearances in his breakthrough season.
He has attracted interest from French and English clubs.
The defender has a €12million release clause, which many consider to be a low fee compared to the potentials the defender has shown.
Los Rojiblancos are ready to sign the defender and leave him out on loan with Valladolid for another season in order to give him a chance to further develop and gain more competitive top flight football experience.
This option will suit both clubs and the player and will even be cheaper for Diego Simeone’s team.
As impressive as he has been in his top flight debut season, the Ghanaian will need another season to confirm, and there is no better place to do that than at Valladolid’s Estadio Jose Zorrilla before moving over to Atletico’s Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, should both clubs arrive at an agreement.
