Born in 1960, eldest in a family of 22 children, Senator Mariam Dao Gabala was today appointed by world’s football governing body FIFA as president of the Ivorian football FA’s normalization committee according to requirements valid to its member associations.
Elections to get a new president was brought sudden death when Chelsea and Ivorian football legend Didier Drogba’s bid was thrown out for receiving 2 of 4 required endorsements from local clubs.
The task ahead for Mariam Dao Gabala will be to bring waring factions/protagonists of the Ivorian football landscape to respect the text governing the FA in consonance with FIFA rules, conduct fresh elections in less than 12 months.
