It was a weekend of tears for the supporters of Fulham FC. The Cottagers gained promotion to the English top flight last season, but their stay in the Premier League was ended at Vicarage Road where they lost 4-1 to Watford in match Day 32 of the premiership in mid-week, just a season after their return.
Midfielder Zambo Anguissa who found favor under interim coach Scott Parker played the entire game, but his presence was not enough to prevent a humiliating defeat. With 19 points after 32 games, it’s impossible for them to catch 17th placed Burnley on 33 points. They were knocked down on the night and out of the Premier League. The will play their remaining six fixtures for pride or for some players like Zambo Anguissa try to seduce another premiership club.
Brighton & Hove Albion are currently 15th on the log, but not mathematically safe yet.
They traveled to Stamford Bridge to face an erratic Chelsea who are in an interesting top four battle. The Seagulls were humbled 3-0 with Cameroon defender Gaetan Bong getting a rare start. Bong played the entire game though Chelsea showed their superiority.
Torino’s coach Walter Mazzari was a happy man to welcome back his solid Cameroon defender Nicolas Nkoulou Doubena Julio in their home game against 1992 Champions League finalists Sampdoria of Genes. Nkoulou missed their previous game due to suspension.
He partnered Armando Izzo and Emiliano Moretti in Torino’s back three that helped them to a 2-0 win over Sampdoria in match Day 30 of the Italian Serie A. He has now featured in 28 league games this season weighing in with two goals.
In the Serie B, Joseph Minala watched from the bench as Salernitana lost 2-1 away to Spezia. The Cameroon striker will be looking forward to the end of miserable season impatiently.
There was an entertaining 4-4 draw at the Estadio de la Ceramica where relegation fighters Villarreal were welcoming likely Champions FC Barcelona in match Day 30.
Karl Toko Ekambi and his teammates threw away a two goals lead in their previous game against Celta Vigo. Within 16 minutes Javi Calleja’s men were already two goals down against Barca. They fought back to draw level at the 50th minute when Cameroon forward Toko Ekambi got Villarreal’s second. They went ahead to open up a two goal cushion which they ones again threw away partly because of the forced substitution of their Cameroon striker at the 72nd minute due to injury and the sending off rightfully of their central defender Alvaro Gonzalez at the 86th minute. The game finished 4-4. It was indeed entertaining but not the kind of result that will help them in their relegation fight. Toko Ekambi scored his eighth goal of the season in the Spanish Primera Liga.
Montpellier played host to Guingamp in Round 30 of the French Ligue 1. Cameroon defender Ambroise Oyongo Bitolo was not in Montpellier’s team though coach Michel Der Zakarian’s team secured all three points in 2-0 win.
For Guingamp, Coach Jocelyn Gourvennec preferred to leave young Cameron defender Felix Eboa Eboa on the bench.
At the Stade de la Meinau, Strasbourg made their home advantage count by beating Reims 4-0. Their coach Thierry Laurrey left out promising young Cameroon defender Diderot Tchamba Bangou from the team.
Paris Saint Germaine booked their place in the French Cup finals with an emphatic 3-0 against Nantes.
Indomitable Lions captain Eric Maxime Choupo-Moting played the game for 77 minutes before making way for German international Julien Draxler. He did not score, but was far from being ridiculous.
At least a Cameroonian will lift the French Cup trophy this season, with PSG’s opponents in the final boasting three Cameroonians in their team. Rennes saw off Lyon in the other semifinals game though they did so without James Edward Lea Siliki, Gerzino Nyamsi and Jordan Siebatcheu. All three Cameroonians were absent from the match sheet. Rennes defeated Lyon 2-3.
It’s a very interesting final sprint in Holland between Ajax Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivisie. Ajax took a point lead with a game more thanks to their 2-5 win against FC Emmen. Cameroon shot-stopper Andre Onana conceeded two goals but not enough to take away the shine from a well deserved victory.
Still overlooked by Clarence Seedorf and his collaborators at the helm of the Indomitable Lions, attacking midfielder Didier Lamkel Ze is one of the first names on coach Laszlo Boloni’s first eleven for Royal Antwerp in the Belgian top flight. The 22 years old native of Bertoua played for 87 minutes before making way for DRC international Jonathan Bolingi at the Bosnuilstadion in their 1-0 win over Genk in their championship Group A playoff game.
In their Group B Europa League playoff game, Royal Excel Mouscron lost at home 0-2 to Union St-Gilloise, partly because of the sending off of their Cameroon midfielder Franck Boya for a second booking at the 39th minute of the game. He was first booked as early as the 8th minute. Boya’s compatriot and teammate Fabrice Olinga was left out of the team. For Union St-Gilloise, their Cameroon forward Serge Tabekou Ouambe only gave moral support from the bench.
In a Group A championship playoff game, Standard Liege earned a vital away win against Gent though their versatile Cameroon defender Fai Collins Ngoran was an unused substitute.
Another Cameroon international on the sidelines though in a winning team was goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa who ones again had to settle for a place on the bench in Oostende’s 1-2 win away to Sporting Charleroi.
It was a difficult night for Craig Levein and his team Hearts of Midlothian who were at the end of a 3-0 bashing from Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox. Cameroon international Arnaud Sutchuin Djoum played for 70minutes before making way for Oliver Les, he was booked at the 70th minute.
Runaway league leaders Salzburg demolished Grazer AK 0-6 in the Austrian cup semifinals. Salzburg coach Marco Rose gave his Mbalmayo born Cameroon international defender Jérôme Onguéné a breather in this game. Onguéné was an unused substitute. They will face Rapid Wien in the final on May 1, 2019.
With 23 games and 5 goals this season, 22 years old Cameroon midfielder Eric Ayuk Mbu paid back the confidence of his coach Oscan Ozkoylu with a wonderful performance again against Altinordu FK in a 0-3 win for his team Osmanlispor FK, in the Turkish 1st Lig, that is the Turkish second tier in match Day 27.
25 years old Cameroon defender Patrick Etoga Atchom was at the heart of all good defending for Istanbulspor AS in a precious 2-1 home win over Eskisehirspor.
Turkish second tier league leaders Denizlispor were held to a high scoring 3-3 draw at home by Altay Izmir. 30 years old experienced Cameroon midfielder Marc Kibong Mbamba was introduced in midfield by coach Yucel Ildiz at the 46th minute for Ziya Alkurt for Denizlispor. The native of Douala saw yellow at the 59th minute.
The goals have not been in free flow for 26 years old Cameroon striker Steve Leo Beleck Abeka. He recorded only his second goal of season against Giresunspor for Balikesirspor. The goal was however hugely celebrated as it was a 90th minute equalizer in a game that had seen the home side play with two men down after two of their players were sent off. The game finished 1-1.

Slavia Prague had a comfortable 5-0 win at home in the Czech cup against Karvina. Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui commanded the back line for Slavia in the entire game.
Veteran Cameroon midfielder Eyong Enoh Tarkang saw yellow for Enosis Paralimni in 1-0 loss away to APOEL Nicosia in a cup game. He played the entire game but could not prevent the loss.
Born on March 16, 1998 in Yaoundé, Barcelona youth product on loan from Granada Martin Hongla actively participated in Karpaty Lviv’s 4-0 win against Vorskla Poltava. The 21years old midfielder is highly rated by his coach Fabri Gonzalez.
Still to justify why Clarence Seedorf keeps inviting him for international duty with the indomitable Lions or maybe the Dutch coach is simply undermining the awareness of Cameroonians, Cameroon defender Joyskim Dawa Tchakonte was on the bench in Mariupol’s 2-3 away win against FC Lviv.
There was a 1-0 win for URAL against Arsenal Tula in the Russian Premier League, unfortunately for Cameroon international midfielder Petrus Boumal he was sent off with a direct red card at the 64th minute.
In matches counting for Day 27 in the Croatian 1st League, Rijeka had a 2-0 victory over Slaven. 26 years old Cameroon forward Louis Marie Rodrigues Bongongui Assougou was brought in at 79th minute to replace Krystian Nowak, but his introduction had little impact in the game.
In the Serbian Super League, Coach Milorad Kasonovic summoned 22 years old 2012 Cameroon national team player for the Montagui Tournament, Samuel Regis Baha to take the place of Luka Stevanovic at the 75th minute, in his team FK Napredak Krusevac’s 2-0 loss away to Mladost Lucani. He has registered just one league goal this season in 22 games.
There was a five star performance for Cameroon striker David Ngog in the Hungarian Cup. He scored a hat-trick for Budapest Honved in their 4-2 win against Budaorsi SC. The 30years old striker has scored three league goals in 19 matches.
Jacques Zoua had a chance to put his goal drought worries behind him in a Romanian cup game between CFR Cluj and his team Astra Giurgiu. Astra’s coach Constantin Enache was so frustrated with his performance that he pulled him out at the 57th minute. Astra however won the game 1-3. The former Cotonsport of Garoua striker has scored one goal in 15 league games.

Former Partizan of Belgrade forward Leandre Gaël Tawamba Kana is on fire in the Saudi Pro League. He scored his 19th league goal of the season at the 58th minute in fourth placed Al-Taawon’s 3-0 against Al-Wehda. Tawamba is currently the second top goal getter in the Saudi Pro League, a goal more than French striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
