Olympic Lions of Cameroon forward Michael Chekoua has helped second tier Austrian side SC Austria Lestanau to promtoon to the Bundesliga following their 2-1 win away to SV Horn in Match-Day 29 of the championship.
Bizarre own goals from Klar and Gobara had just one reply on the day as Lestanau won to open a five points gap at the top.
Leading by five points with a game left before the end of the Lestenau are sure of playing in the top-flight next term largely thanks to the efforts of their Cameroonian striker across the season.
Michael Chekoua scored eight goals and provided five assists in 28 matches in the promotion camping thus making him one of the most valuable player at his club this campaign.
In 28 appearances overall, the ex SV Horn forward played 2,166 minutes. He has started in 24 of these appearances across their 30 fixtures and come on as a substitute on four occasions.
After twenty-two years, Austria Lustenau will once again be at the forefront of Austria football. It is the first time since the 1999-2000 season. Haris Tabakovic from Switzerland, who scored a total of 14 goals in 40 matches is the team’s home goal scorer and top scorer on the second division this campaign.
Chekoua once of Canon Yaounde is in his second season at Lestenau and could take his goal tally for the season to double figures when they face Young Violets Austria Wien in the final game of the season.
