With four (4) more games to the end of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, MFM FC seat bottom of the league table with 36 points, four points short of beating the drop.
For the team’s coach, Festus Allen, MFM FC can escape the current relegation crisis.
“The momentum is we are going to give our all to the last game of the season. We will continue to try to get points and fight together. We will continue to fight. I have not been able to do anything fantastic. It’s the grace of God. It’s a pendulum that switches. Now we are facing the crisis and will come out of that crisis.” He told pressmen after recording a 2-1 win over Enyimba on Sunday.
“First of all, I want to give God the glory and my father, Dr. DK Olukoya who has stood by us and we have magnificent management with fantastic and awesome players. I will say I feel fine and happy.” The coach continued.
“When you are playing a side of Enyimba magnitude. They have the experience against all odds. They have been on the continent. We could not come out just like that because if we come out, it will be dangerous for us. We have to watch them very well, study them, and come out with our plan which we later changed. We switched to 4-3-3 formation from 4-1-2-3 in the first half.”
MFM FC will have to get positive results against Sunshine Stars, Niger Tornadoes, Kwara United, and Nasarawa United as well as hope the likes of Niger Tornadoes, Lobi Stars, Dakkada FC, Heartland FC, and Kano Pillars drop points to be able to survive a return to second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL).
