APEJES of Mfou’s exciting young keeper Franck Messobo Amabassa Gaspard has become the fifth player of the Anicet Mbarga Foe assembled generation of Under-17 Lions of Cameroon team to feature in the Cameroon top-flight championship.
Ambassa kept goal on Sunday for his boyhood club as they lost 0-2 to Racing of Bafoussam, in what was an improvement from the four goals his club conceded in the previous round of matches.
Ambassa’s top-flight debut adds him to the list of Tekeu Kamgang, Jean Eric Moursou, Wassou Goue and Fansu Ismael who all formed an important part of the Cameroon team that was picked by Anicet Mbarga for the abandoned 2021 TotalEnergies Under-17 AFCON.
Teikeu and Fansu experienced the top-flight championship last season through opportunities offered by APEJES of Mfou and YAFOOT FC respectively. That campaign Jean Eric Moursou played his first minutes for Cotonsport while this campaign another of his international and club colleague Wassou Goue Patient had his first run out in the second tier CAF competition.
The 16-year old played ahead of Under-20 international Ulrich Hecube, making four saves across the duration of the game.
Ambassa was beaten twice by Fotue Fabrice and Armel Kengne but in all it was a great debut for the keeper.
The young keeper who considers Andre Onana as his mentor has potentials to achieve greatness in the years to come.
APEJES takes on perfect starters YOSA in Match-Day six of the championship and Ambassa could be key in all this.
