Tottenham Hotspur (Small Soppo, Tole, Long Street, Clerks Quarters and Great Soppo) striker Mbinglo Lartey received the man of the match award after he produced a magnificent performance in his side’s victory against Buea Town and Bokwaongo, stylized as Olympique Lyonnais by 4 to 1.
The man of the match award (FCFA 50,000) was made available by cam win lotto, one of the fastest growing betting sites in the country. The sport betting company is a sponsor to the Njie Clinton Tournament and the other charity work the player intends to carry out while in the country.
The player from Long Street scored a brace as his team achieved a remarkable 4-2 win over Lyon in the first semi-final of the ongoing Clinton Njie End of Year Tournament played at the Buea Town Municipal Stadium.
“It was a good contest and also a good initiative. The win was a collective effort from all my teammates. They were solid from the start to the end, though it was not easy as we faced a lot of opposition who had good players. It was teamwork and we all worked hard for the victory,” Mbinglo Lartey Franklin told kick442.com after the game.
“With respect to the Man of the Match it is always a pleasure to be given an individual title but it is still down to my whole team and I thank them for that. The strategy we used was to press high and not to give them any breeding space. It was not an easy feat, legs are tired but it was a job well done by the team.”
Mbinglo Lartey could have had a hard trick in the game after Spurs conceded a third penalty. The player who was on two goals decided to give the scoring opportunity to his colleague Clinton who stepped up and scored.
Collins was on hand to get an equalizer for Spurs after the side went one goal down in the opening minutes of the game. Oscar Ngumbo had scored for Olympique Lyonnais just about 3mins into the game.
The victory for Tottenham Hotspur (Small Soppo, Tole, Long Street, Clerks Quarters and Great Soppo) sees them qualify for the final of the Clinton Njie End of Year Tournament. They will wait to play the winner of the second semi-final that comes up December 24 between Olympique de Marseille (Molyko and Bonduma) versus Dynamo Moscow (Mile 16, Muea and Bomaka).
It should be noted that the winner of the tournament is expected to go home with FCFA 1 million, while the runner-up gets FCFA 600,000.
