Unsettled 25-year-old Senegalese forward has taken another step towards his much talked about exit from French league 1 side Stade Rennes.
Reports from multiple sources in France have it that current Olympique of Marseille gaffer, Andre Villas Boas has put a call through to the 25-year-old Senegalese forward in an attempt to lure him to the Veledrome.
Last month, kick442.com reported about Mbaye’s admiration for the 1993 UEFA Champions League winners.
The former AC Milan striker seems very keen on a move away from Stade Rennes and last month he is quoted to have made some heartwarming comments for the Marseille faithfuls.
“For me it’s flattering. This means I am doing some good things. Looking at the history of Marseille and it’s supporters… if I am told Marseille needs my services,I don’t need to think twice. It’s a big club, a club that deserves to be respected today in France,” Niang told L’équipe last month.
Thr player’s current contract with Rennes runs till June 2023. The Senegal international has been on target 15 times in 35 games across all competitions for Julien Stephan’s teams. 10 of his 15 goals have come in his 25 Ligue 1 appearances.
A call from the club’s manager who is desperately looking for options in the attacking sector of their team means a lot to Mbaye and the possibility of the deal happening.
