Cameroon’s Michelle Maxi Bilong scored her third goal of the season for her Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, Abia Angels as they defeated Ibom Angels 1-0 to return to winning ways in their week twelve tie.
Ibom Angels goalkeeper, Lucky Andy was sent off in the second half of the game.
The win was Abia Angels’ first victory in the league in 2021 since their week three win in December 2020.
Bayelsa Queens maintained their five points lead at the top of the table after a 3-1 win over DreamStar FC Ladies with Uzoamaka Igwe scoring two goals coupled with Charity Reuben’s strike for Bayelsa Queens while Owoseni Bukola scored DreamStar’s consolation goal.
Delta Queens also maintained their second position on the league table with a 1-0 win over Pelican Stars. Amarachi Orjinma scored their solitary goal.
A minute silence was observed in honour of Confluence Queens Supporters Club President’s late mother, Chief Mrs. Olivia Bako as Confluence Queens defeated Royal Queens 2-1.
Chinenye Emenike and Winifred Eyebhoria scored for the host. Chiamaka Okwuchukwu pulled a goal back for Royal Queens FC in the 55th minute.
Rivers Angels returned to winning ways after failing to win their last three league games with a 1-2 away win over Nasarawa Amazons in Lafia.
Emenayo Ugochi had given host (Nasarawa Amazons) the lead in the 52nd minutes before goals from Vivian Ikechukwu and Maryann Ezenagu helped Rivers Angels to a come-back win.
Edo Queens also returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Osun Babes courtesy of Elizabeth Zirike’s second half strike.
A goal from Shukura Oladipupo ensured that FC Robo Queens pipped Sunshine Queens 1-0 at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere Lagos.
