Legendary Cameroonian photo-journalist, Maurice Ebanga has died aged, 55.
The celebrated “icon of the Camera” made his first appearance in an International competition in 1990. He was a part of the Cameroon team of journalists who witnessed Cameroon win the 2000,2002 and 2017 AFCON titles.
He attended the 2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt.
The Egypt jamboree turned out to be the last of 15 AFCON tournaments for the hero.
He also attended Seven FIFA World Cups, two FIFA Confederations cup and three Olympic games tournaments.
Ebanga or “Banga” as he was funly called by some African sports journalists had hinted his retirement after the 2019 AFCON.
He is on record to have told the Indomitable Lions to win the 2019 AFCON and dedicate it to him as his retirement souvenirs.
The Lions didn’t win the trophy but “Godfather” as this reporter often described him won the admiration of as many as he inspired.
A jovial man who always had a smile on his face leaves behind friends, family and the world of Sports to mourn him.
