Joel Djob Matip is fit and available for selection in Liverpool’s mid-week UEFA Champions League.
Fresh reports from scans conducted on the player after their 2-2 draw against Liverpool FC revealed that the erstwhile Schalke 04 midfielder cum defender hasn’t muscle problems as it was feared post-match.
Matip made a first start of the 2020-2021 season in the weekend fixture in which Liverpool lost Van Dijk for the rest of the season.
Reports of no major problem for Matip is certainly a good one for Jurgen Klopp who has to rely on Joe Gomez, Joel Matip plus makeshift defender Fabinho for the rest of the first-half of the season till the January window.
The 22-capped Cameroonian will be available for selection in the UEFA Champions League game against Red Bull Salzburg this week.
The Club failed to replace Dejan Lovren who left for Locomotive Moscow in the summer.
The English Premier League Champions must do business for a central defender in the January window everything being equal.
17-year-old potential Indomitable Lions of Cameroon defender Billy Koumetio remains an option for Klopp though to some he may be too tender to take such responsibilities at the Anfield.
