Match preview: YOSA vs Stade Renard, Can struggling host reduce gab with the Toppers?

Yong sports academy of Bamenda will be hoping for an improved performance, when they host pool B leaders, Stade Renard of Melong in an early kick off in Bamenda on Sunday March 17, 2019. YOSA’s 1#1 draw with Astres on Match day 8, came to add more pressure to an underfire Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso, as the fans and management of the club are getting more and more frustrated with the dwindling form of their team.

THE STAKES

YOSA currently sit 5th in pool B of the league one championship with 9 points harvested in 8 league games and a win against Stade Renard may draw them level on points with their days opponent and leaders, who have 12 points.
Stade Renard on their part knows that they risk losing their top spot to either Astres or UMS, should results be favourable to the chasing teams. So anything short of a win in Bamenda, may see the Melong side dropping down the pecking orders.

HEAD TO HEAD

Sunday’s game will be the 5th confrontation between the two sides, since Stade Renard got promotion to the top tier in 2017. Their last four meetings have seen one victory for either side, and two draws. Last season, YOSA defeated Stade Renard 1#nil in Melong thanks to a goal from Yves Alain Dooh Moukoko, which ended Stade Renard’s excellent home run, and made YOSA the first side to move away with a win in Melong. The return leg in Bamenda saw goalkeeper Tayiwoh Princewill pulling a series of world class saves, as the game Ended on parity.

2017
Stade Renard 1#0 YOSA
YOSA 0#0 Stade Renard

2018
Stade Renard 0#1 YOSA
YOSA 0#0 Stade Renard

RECENT FORM
YOSA has played 7 games this season, recording two wins, two defeats and three draws.
YOSA THIS SEASON

Matches played: 7
Wins: 2 (against Eding, and UMS)
Lost: 2 (Fortuna and FOVU)
Draws: 3 (Unisport, Feutcheu, Astres)
Goals scored: 4
Goals conceded: 4
Goal scorers: Cyril Fonou 1 goal, Yves Alain Dooh 1 goal, Toko Toko Eric 1 goal, Randy Ntume 1 goal.

Stade Renard on their part, has played seven games, recording 3 wins, 1 defeat and 3 draws. The team has also scored 5 goals and have conceded 4 times.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Randy Ntume Kwalar captain YOSA against Astres, and scored his first goal of the season. He has been instrumental for the Bamenda since he joined them from National polytechnic last season.
Yves Alain Dooh Moukoko scored against stade Renard last season. Should the YOSA captain recover on time, the game against stade Renard maybe a perfect opportunity for him to celebrate the birth of his daughter.

On the side of Stade Renard, Jean Same Same has been on target twice this season, and his thirst for more goals will continue against YOSA.
Goalkeeper Yannick Epane Epane of Stade Renard, kept a clean sheet in Bamenda last term while in the colours of Dragon, just like Tayiwoh Princewill did same with Stade Renard in Bamenda last season. So whoever starts at goal for Stade Renard, knows just what it takes to play in Bamenda.
Sindjo Brice Edmond almost joined YOSA during the off season, and may be part of the team to face YOSA on Sunday.

Kick off time is 1:00pm Cameroon time.
