Two of the newly promoted teams in the league one championship, PWD social club of Bamenda and Avion academy of go head to head this Wednesday February 27, 2019, in what will be the first meeting between the two sides in the top tier championship.
HEAD TO HEAD
Avion is in their maiden season in the league one. This Wednesdays game will be the first ever league one clash between the two sides in the league one.
However, the two sides have met four times in the league two in the past two seasons, with each side moving away with two wins and two defeats. The first ever encounter between PWD and Avion was on Wednesday 15 March 2017, where Avion defeated PWD 1#0. PWD then won the return leg in Bamenda on July 04, 2017, by a similar score margin of 1#nil.
Last season, they met on the opening day of the league two in Bamenda, with an 86th minute penalty from Berryclain Tangoacha giving PWD a victory. Avion took their revenge in the return leg at the Ngeme Annex stadium in Limbe, when Aime Gerard Mangolo and Mfegue George scored to hand Avion a 2#1 win, despite Malachi Nfor Che scoring the lone goal for PWD in that game, in his debut for the Abakwa boys.
PWD is now on a 16 match unbeaten run at home, and can extend it to 17 with a win or draw over Avion. The Abakwa boys have played four games this season, recording one win, one draw and two defeats and currently ranked 6th in their pool with 4 points. Ngia P has also scored four goals and has conceded six times.
Avion has failed to record even a single point in their last two outings against PWD in Bamenda. The champions of the league two have however been in top form this season, recording two wins and two draws in their opening four games and are join table toppers, alongside cotonport.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Kongnyuy Jude of PWD has 3 goals in four matches, same too as Aime Mounet of Avion. Arnold Zambo might also want to add to his 2 goals this season, while goalkeeper Jean Oscar Kalati Gwot may lineup for the second time in Avion’s colours this season.
Ashu Toni Emmanuel will also be a man to watch in PWDs midfield, should he be given the opportunity be the PWDs coaching staff.
There is great news for PWD, as forward Owen Mbeh Mikel Ndze is available for selection after completing his transfer formalities with Bang Bullets FC, same too for experience midfielder Achu Toni Emmanuel who is part of the 18 man for the game. Berrinyuy Derrick is also part of the squad, and will likely assist in the defensive compartment. Ndeh Coline is also available but will not take part in the encounter and may feature in the team sheet against cotonspot on match day seven.
