Young Sports Academy (YOSA) of Bamenda Coach Martin Nkabyo says he had been expecting three points to be given to them for their game against Tonnerre Yaounde (TKC) which did not take place.
The renowned Cameroonian tactician was speaking after FECAFOOT Homologation Committee awarded the team all three points for their matchday one game against TKC.
TKC was absent during the game and cited a lack of COVID-19 test results and FECAFOOT has decided to award YOSA the three points.
“This is a decision we have been waiting for since the match failed to take place. We did not expect any other decision because the texts are clear,” Martin Nkabyo, YOSA Coach said.
“All the teams were informed before the beginning of the championship, that teams had to move to the match venues with their COVID results and sanctions were previewed for teams who failed to do that. I think it is only but normal that the homologation Committee has applied the text and that is why we have been given the three points for the game,” Martin Nkabyo added.
Despite the game not taking place, Martin Nkabyo says they would have picked up the victory if the game had taken place looking at their preparations his side had put for the game.
“It is is a match we had prepared well and it is evident we were robbed off a good game and possible victory. I can assure you we were very well prepared for that game and we were frustrated when we did not play the game. It is just divine justice and we are happy as it will help us foster ahead with plenty of confidence and determination,” Martin Nkabyo, the former Tiko United and the National Polytechnic gaffer said.
The three points that have been awarded to the side has moved Young Sports up to fifth on the standings. The team is expected to face TKC next weekend when the second round resumes. YOSA currently counts 10 points in Group B after 9 games played with a game in hand against New Stars.
