Indomitable Lions of Cameroon midfielder Martin Hlonga scored the winner in Antwerp’s comeback win away at Zulte Waregem this Sunday in match-day nine of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
Though the 3-1 score at full-time suggest otherwise, it wasn’t an easy game for the visitors.
Zulte Waregem took the lead at home barely seven minutes into the game through 25-year-old French midfielder Jean-Luc Mamadou Diarra Dompé.
Hlonga and his mates had the task to score to get at least a point from the fixture.
The host kept their shape and protected their lead till the half-time break.
13 minutes after the interval, veteran Belgian midfielder Faris Haroun leveled scores.
Four minutes after the hour mark, Martin Hlonga made it 2-1 for the visitors, concluding a fine attacking action with an assist from Peter Gerkins.
And the contest was as good as over in the 94th minute when Cristian Benavente scored the third for Royal Antwerp.
The game stayed on the 3-1 score till full-time.
The results takes Antwerp up to the 6th-spot on the Jupiler Pro standing.
Hlonga played the entire game, Boya watched from the stands from start to finish while Didier Lamkel Ze didn’t make the call for the game.
They have Ludogorets as their next customers in the UEFA Europa League mid-week.
