Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and Royal Antwerp midfielder Martin Hlonga has expressed his desire to one day return to Barcelona and complete the dream he abandoned halfway.
Speaking during a recent interview with local media, the 22-year-old former La Masia student left the door open on Barcelona if need be in future.
“I dream to be back at Barcelona one day. I played with the feeder team for six months but was training with the first team on multiple occasions. I have the qualities to play for the Club and won’t be surprised to be back one day,” Hlonga told Walfoot.
Hlonga spent a part of the 2018 on loan at Barcelona from Granada but was restricted to a few appearances for the reserves team though he worked with the first team occasionally.
The Academy Nkufo graduate has improved since leaving Barcelona and this days he is a guarantee starter under coach Ivan Leko at Antwerp which has been his employer since 2019.
Hlonga has scored and assisted once in 12 games this season, featuring in as many of the Clubs UEFA Europa League games.
A return to Barcelona will add the midfield maestro to the list of Cameroonians who previously represented the Spanish Club.
