Italian Women’s top-flight side SSL Napoli Ladies have confirmed the capture of 26-year old Cameroonian defender, Marie-Aurelle Awona.
The club took to Instagram this Friday to announce that formalities had been completed for the Cameroon international to move to Naples from French side Stade Reims Ladies.
“Marie Aurelle Awona,7 born in Yaoundé in Cameroon on February 2, 1993, reinforces the Napoli Women’s defense in view of the season that is officially about to begin (between 25 and 26, meeting and medical examinations for the girls of Mr. Pistolesi) . Awona comes from the Stade de Reims, a club with which he made 12 appearances last year (all as a starter) in the French A. She also experiences with Dijon, Soyaux, Le Mans and Madrid CFF in Spain (in 2019-2020).”
Awona who made twelve appearances for Reims last term will start a new life in Italy after stops in France for the above-mentioned clubs and Spain with Real Madrid Ladies.
She has been involved in the last two AWCON and Women’s FIFA World Cup tournaments for the Central African nation.
She was in the team of the 2018 African Women’s cup of Nations tournament following her brilliant output in the event that happened in Ghana.
