Colombe of Dja skipper and forward Hapmo Dangmo Man Ykre has been handed a maiden call up to the Cameroon team national selection
This Pan-African Sports news learnt about the player’s invitation from a Tweet from the Cameroon Football Federation this Thursday evening after five players defected the squad of 25 following the decision by French Clubs to prevent their players from traveling out of Europe.
Man Ykre was Colombe’s lead scorer with nine goals and three assists from 25 in an unforgettable 2019-2020 season.
The 26-year-old former Cotonsport of Garoua and UMS of Loum forward played his best football and reached his season record earning the player of the season Award and a place in Cameroon’s CHAN 2020 squad. He made four starts in the competition after impressing in pre-CHAN games.
He has featured in all two of the Club’s league games this season playing well though he is yet to get off the mark.
His inclusion takes the number of locally picked for the games against Cape Verde Island and Rwanda to four. Goalkeeper Haschou Kerrido, midfielder Meyapia Nfongain and forwards Ako Assomo and Solomon Banga complete the quartet.
Cameroon’s camp without French based players and a number of Belgian players open on Monday in Yaoundé-Cameroon with the team to face Cape Verde away in Pria on March 26th and Rwanda four days later at Japoma-Cameroon.
