2016 African Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns are preparing to bring arguably the world’s best players of all times, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to South Africa, this year.
Both players have 11 Ballon d’Or trophies between them, with Ronaldo winning five and Messi a record six.
According to reports from www.kickoff.com, Sundowns are working to bring Spanish giants FC Barcelona and Italian powerhouse Juventus of Turin in July for the South African club’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
The South African PSL club is working tirelessly to pull off what will be a giant feat to bring two of Europe’s most successful clubs to the African continent.
They are also working to bring Portugal’s FC Porto in what they want to make an unforgettable event.
Sundowns have planned to have the celebrations in July, owing to their commitment in the CAF Champions League and the South African domestic league.
The club is planning a huge 50th anniversary celebration.
“Yes the club is planning big celebrations. At this moment I can’t give out information. But yes, there will be big celebrations to celebrate our 50th anniversary,” a Sundowns official who asked for anonymity, told kickoff.com.
They intend to have a celebration that will be capped by a preseason tournament that will see Messi and Ronaldo in the ranks of their clubs, FC Barcelona and Juventus respectively, on African soil.
The organizers are hoping that the football icons will not decide to take time off after the European Championships and Copa America, so that they can make the event one of its kind on the continent, with the presences.
