South African Football Association (SAFA) has brought the SAFA National Women League (SNWL) to a halt and declared first place team, Mamelodi Sundowns ladies winners of the inaugural 2019/2020 league season with nine games to spare.
The SNWL was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic in March this year.
The decision was made at an Extraordinary Meeting at SAFA House on Saturday, 20 June 2020 where it made a number of key resolutions.
The need to conclude the league became paramount after SAFA Medical Officer, Dr Thulani Ngwenya gave a full briefing on the impact of Covid-19 on the restart of play, both for professional and amateur football.
The SAFA NEC also confirmed that JVW and MaIndies are both promoted to the SNWL for next season.
The Brazilians are top of the log with 63 points after 21 games, nine points ahead of TUT Ladies.
The declaration means Sundowns are the first champions of the 12-team league which was started by the South African Football Association last year.
