It’s an amazing development by the Malawi Football Association as they have signed a 10-year partnership with a Malawian health care provider worth €6M.
This will provide free/subsidised medical care for all footballers registered with the FA, including women & youth.
The local clubs are will be the major beneficiary of this development and it will also foster more competition among them.
Meanwhile the Malawian National Men Football Team currently placed third in group B of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
With four points from 4 games, 4 behind first place Burkina Faso and 3 behind second place Uganda, Malawi stand the chance of qualifying for the main event slated for next year in Cameroon.
This is a precedent for other leagues across the continent.
