Malawi has defeated the Cranes of Uganda by 1goal to zero in their final Group B qualifying game for the 2021 African Cup of Nations.
This defeat for Uganda sends them out of the competition to be played in Cameroon since they needed only a draw from the game.
Richard Mbulu’s fifteenth minute goal gave Malawi the 1-0 victory. This victory marks Malawi’s third ever qualification in the African Cup of Nations competition.

Malawi were second with 9 points and Uganda third with 8 points and their defeat caused them a third straight AFCON participation
The Cranes were one of the participants in the 2020 CHAN competition in Cameroon and were sent home in the group stage by Rwanda, Togo and winners Morocco.
The result led to the dismissal of Head coach Jonathan McKinstry and so the qualifiers against South Sudan and Malawi were headed by Abdallah Mubiru, Livingston Mbabazi and Fred Kajoba.
This victory for Malawi takes them to second position in Group B with 10 points right after Burkina Faso who are first with 12 points.
