The Canadian company constructing the Yaounde Olembe Sports Complex, Magil Construction has announced a 10 Million FCFA fine for individuals found illegally taking photos at the new Cameroonian sports facility.
According to a warning placard placed near the entrance of the structure and spotted by Kick442.Com on Saturday December 4, any individuals caught taking photos of the facility without due permissions, will also have their phones and cameras confiscated.
“Warning! It is prohibited to take pictures on the site. Camera/phone will be confiscated and a fine of up to 10.000.000 will be applied. Management.” The message on the placard reads.
The warning signal making talking headlines among football fans and observers, has come to raise debates about the readiness of the facility to host the opening game of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon early next year.
It comes a day after the official ceremony for the handing over of the facility to the government of Cameroon which was slated for Friday December 3, was pushed forward to an unannounced date by the Local Organizing Committee of the 2021 AFCON on grounds of technical hitches faced by the team.
The Yaounde Olembe Stadium which is one of 7 stadia selected in Cameroon for the 2021 AFCON, has been making waves in Cameroon since works began at the side over four years ago.
News of the facility returned to the headlines in Cameroon again late last month after the Confederation of African Football, CAF sent a letter to the Cameroonian government setting the deadline for the completion of works at the structure for November 30, 2021 or risk of moving away the opening fixture of the forthcoming AFCON scheduled to take place at the 60 thousand seater stadium to a different stadium.
