Zambian’s Premier top flight club, Lusaka Dynamos has appointed coach Wedson Nyirenda for the reminder of the season.
The club also confirmed the appointment of other members of the coaching crew.
”Lusaka Dynamos is pleased to announce that Wedson Nyirenda has been appointed head coach of Lusaka Dynamos while Ian Bakala, Josphat Nkhoma and Stephen Mwansa will be his assistants. Stephen Mwansa will also double as goalkeeping coach while Manchi Janza is the physical trainer,” Shalala said.
The Lusaka based club sits 6th on the log and are looking to end the season on a high with just 6 points separating them from first place Forest Rangers.
Wedson, 54 is delighted and is looking forward to a good end to the season will for Lusaka Dynamos.
”It is great to be associated with Lusaka Dynamos FC. For the next 3 months we shall work tirelessly to see that we end this current season in the best position. If everyone works accordingly, and pull in the same direction we can achieve the unthinkable. God will guide us through,” posited Nyirenda.
The former Zesco coach knows his onions as he has coached the Zambian national team.
He is a winner of the Telkom Knockout with Baroka FC and was part of the coaching team that won the Cosafa Under-20 Championship in South Africa and the African Youth Championship with the Zambian Under 20 team.
His stint as Zambia coach remains etched in the memory of football fans after he almost qualified to the world cup in a group that had Nigeria, Algeria and Cameroon. He also took Zambia to the quarter finals of the African Nations Championship, CHAN.
With 10 rounds of games remaining in the Zambia Premier League, the Elite as they are called, will seek to finish at least with a continental ticket, a position that they are yet to attain since the creation of the club.
The league resumes on 18th July, 2020.
